Sorry for
the Delay in Our Newsletter
They
say age is like the speed limit.
The older you get the faster it goes. I believe it!
The first two months of 2012 have flown by.
Recently
I had a conversation with someone about Haven of Hope
Ministries and realized that they were not aware of a number
of things about the ministry.
So I thought it would be beneficial to lay out the structure
and purpose of Have of Hope in more detail for those who
pray for us and support us.
We are
established as a non-profit non-denominational para-church
ministry that is founded to reach out to whoever needs the
support and encouragement of this ministry.
The
ministry is directed by a leadership board made up of four
members at the time. Myself as founder and president, Andy
Knuth as vice-president (Andy is also the recipient of the
mentoring aspect of this ministry), Ken Walden who comes to
us as a pastors son, and who is an accountant, and Richard
Brest who is a retired pastor who is still active in God's
work.
All come with experience and spiritual insight into the
ministry.
The two
main focuses of the ministry are as follows:
1) To come
along side pastors and their families to encourage, council
and pray in challenging times. To offer them restoration
through God's truth at any level.
2) The
second main purpose is to mentor the next generation of
leaders called into the ministry of their own.
Our Focus
In
these two main purposes it is also our desire to encourage
the older and younger generations to come together for the
cause of Christ.
Also
presenting itself on occasion beyond the two main purposes
is the need to be a pastor to those who have no church
family.
This ministry is a faith based endeavor that is not
supported by a local church congregation or denomination. It
is born out of obedience to God and a burden for those who
often have no one to turn to.
We want to be a place of HOPE.
It is
presently supported by those who share in the vision and
need of this kind of ministry.
The funds contributed are presently used for expenses. As
founder and president I do not presently receive a salary
from Haven of Hope.
It is a "tent making" ministry where I have a
handyman/construction business that provides for our needs,
but also gives me the freedom to be available to meet with
those I minister to.
These are days of great need and great opportunity. It is a
joy to be in the center of God's will doing what He has
called me to do.
I hope this summary has been insightful and helps you to
know how to pray for us.
In our last board meeting God really met with us and
challenged us to step up the ministry this year. To connect
with more pastors. To make ourselves more available to those
who need to be mentored, and to possibly create opportunity
to bring pastors and those to be mentored together for
retreat type settings.
As you
pray for us, if you sense God's prompting to support this
ministry, it would be greatly appreciated.
Mostly, be in prayer as we are wanting to give more time to
this much needed ministry.
Thank
you. Pastor Rick, Pastor of a church
without walls. |
