WHAT CAN WE DO?
Oh the problem of sin! Who can cure
it? What is the answer to our culture's woes? What is the
hope for our nation, communities, and churches?
The message throughout history
seems to be the same, whether spoken by the prophets,
priest, John the Baptist, or Jesus Himself.
"Repent and
turn back to God."
Repent and turn back
to God and be blessed and prosper as a people, finding
comfort, hope, salvation, strength, purpose, meaning, joy,
fellowship, companionship, power, eternal life, forgiveness,
freedom, beauty, praise, abundant life, passion, compassion,
provision, protection, and so much more.
or
Reject God and perish!
It is that simple.
It is that clear-cut.
America is no
different from the Israelites and Judah in the days of the
prophet Jeremiah. The culture and society is deteriorating
economically, politically, and spiritually. God's Word is
deemed offensive.
Our ONLY hope is to
repent and turn our hearts back to God. No other effort,
campaign, or attempt will accomplish anything lasting.
We need God! Period!
If there was another
solution I would recommend it, but there is not!
This is not a matter
of "my way is better than your way." This is a
matter of "it is the only way!"
God sent His Son
because there was no other way. Our forgiveness, salvation,
and hope could only be purchased by the blood of Jesus
Christ on the cross.
As John 14:6 states
the words of Jesus Himself, "I am the way, the truth,
and the life. No one comes to the Father except through
Me."
What We
Need
What we need is to be
desperate for God. Realizing that without Him there is no
grounds for hope; without Him there is nothing left but
despair. He is our only escape from defeat and frustration.
Christ is the answer to our extreme need and anxiety.
Oh may we turn to
God NOW!
(2 Corinthians 6:2)
Personal
Note
I see God raising up
those of the younger generation who He is preparing to be
spiritual leaders in our churches and communities. More and
more God is giving me opportunities to mentor and be a part
of that preparation.
While I am still
available to pastors and their families who are hurting,
there is an important role in mentoring the next generation
for Christ.
I would challenge any
who love Christ to search your hearts and ask God to show
you a young person whom you can build a relationship with
and be a spiritual mentor to. This is God's design.
Continue to encourage and
pray for the pastors and their families in your area. It means
more than you can imagine.
