Greetings from Colorado and Merry Christmas!
This has been another very busy year that has brought us both blessings and challenges.
I have not done a newsletter now for over a year and decided it is time to get you caught up.
Life has gotten fuller now that me and Elaine are grandparents.
What a joy grandchildren are as we move into a new chapter of our lives.
Haven of Hope and the ministry of being a pastor to those God brings into our lives continues to grow.
I am presently meeting with three men individually each month as well as another young man on occasion.
Once a month I am going to the Burlington Colorado area to preach at a church there. Ironically it is
called Hope Congregational Church. God seems to keep the theme of "Hope" in front of me. I have been
doing this for over two years and it has been a real blessing for me and the congregation as well.
I seem to be living out the life of a pastor more and more, even though it is a church with no walls.
I am teaching regularly at the local church we attend as well as being part of a small group that also
fulfills the role of mentoring as well as being challenging for me to continue to grow in my own
relationship with the Lord and others.
Isiah 9:6 declares the prophecy of Jesus birth with these words.
"For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders.
And he will be called Wonderful Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace."
In those 4 names for Jesus Christ we are given everything we need in a Savior and King.
Wonderful Counsellor / One who gives us Truth, direction, purpose, comfort, and hope!
Mighty God / One who is the power behind all that He calls us to do and the strength to live out
His Holy Word in our daily lives. One Who is greater than anything we can face and Who has already defeated the enemy,
Satan, on the cross and through the resurrection!
Everlasting Father / He is to us the Father that will never abandon us nor leave us.
Prince of Peace / The One Who is peace and Who give us His peace that is beyond understanding. Offering
His peace in the midst of the turmoil of this world's craziness.
May you know and experience all that Jesus is this Christmas celebration season and throughout the new year!
God bless! Pastor Rick Messer / Pastor of a church without walls.
